All the schools in the Trust spent the day finding out about our Trust values. The day began with an assembly about the Trust and why the values are important. During the day the children took part in a variety of activities which culminated in a presentation in assembly about what they had learned. The children offered a summary of their experiences.
Reception took part in focused activities based on 'Self Help'. We began by exploring those who help in our community, we then looked at who helps us at home. Finally, we thought about how we can help ourselves and came up with our own 'Self Help Promises'. Reception had a thoroughly enjoyable day and came up with lots of fantastic ideas. - Report by Reception
Year 1 had a fun-filled Trust Day exploring ‘self-responsibility. The initial focus was themselves and thinking about how their own behaviour affected others. The children then widened their learning to consider the impact of their behaviour on the wider world.—Report by Y1
Year 2, focused on the theme ‘equity’. Activities included: learning about the term equity, how we could be fair in school and home, the Fair Trade organisation - the process of the banana trade and making Trust / fair trade pledges too. We even took part in a ‘fair trade’ dance! We then finished with an assembly where we shared the work. It was a lovely day.—Report by Y2
On Friday Year 3 explored the value of equality. The children researched different religious festivals that are celebrated throughout Great Britain and the world. They discussed how they could celebrate and respect differences whilst recognising that all have an equal place in today's culture and society. The children enjoyed the opportunity to further their understanding of other cultures and enjoyed presenting their findings to the rest of the school.—Report by Y3
In Year 4, our trust value was solidarity. Firstly we looked at what solidarity means and used iPads to find synonyms and create an acrostic poem. Next we designed our own symbol for solidarity and created people paper chains to represent holding hands and working together. We also looked at how others show solidarity by looking at the Haka - a Maori dance from New Zealand. Finally we had great fun creating our own Haka routines.—report by Y4
Year 5 learned all about democracy, as an understanding of democracy will help us in the future. We held our very own democratic vote about whether Year 5 and Year 6 should become independent in the same way that Scotland recently did. As part of this we created posters to advertise our democracy—report by Zara & Joshua
On Trust Day Year 6 explored the values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others. We made Trust Boards about what these things meant to us and watched a video about how one act of kindness can spread all over the world. In addition we were lucky enough to have an ex-England hockey player come into school to coach us! All of Year 6 had an amazing day and really learned a great deal. - Report by Katie, Y6
