Beaufort is a primary special school, in the East of the city, catering for pupils with cognition and learning difficulties.
Beaufort has a successful track record of partnership working which was formalised in September 2012 when it’s governing body formed a hard federation with Langley School which has been part of the LTE since it’s inception. Whilst both schools maintain their individual school status they are governed by one governing body and lead by Executive Head Teacher Fiona Woolford. During the last Ofsted inspection Beaufort was graded as Outstanding. Beaufort and Langley were the first federation in Birmingham to achieve the Ofsted Outstanding grade for both schools.
Fiona Woolford said “It is fantastic that Beaufort has formalised its links with the LTE. Following the success of the Langley/ Beaufort federation it seems like the natural progression. Beaufort will now be able to benefit from the Trust collaboration in the way that Langley has over recent years, both in terms of opportunities for our pupils and families, financial efficiencies and development work and opportunities for staff as well as strategic planning”.
Rachel Davis, Chair of the LTE said “Welcoming Beaufort into the LTE collaboration adds even more strength and depth to our partnership. The primary schools within the Trust are very fortunate to have access to the wealth of expertise and specialist knowledge within the two special schools. The need for support for our pupils with special education needs seems to be increasing within mainstream provision and Langley have been instrumental in enabling us to respond. The Trust is keen to develop this particular aspect of the partnership further for the benefit of our community and families within it.”
